I'm home from my race, Shane enjoyed the weekend home alone and the construction workers were back on the job today. All is well in our world...
The first thing I noticed today is that the scaffolding has been removed from the front of the house. Well, maybe Shane had to point that out to me; but it doesn't really matter who noticed it, now does it? We think it has been removed so that the lot can be prepared for the driveway and sidewalk.
With the insulation in, you are more able to tell what size the rooms will be. This pic is taken standing in the kitchen, looking into the living room. The ceiling in the living room is about 3 feet higher than the ceiling in the kitchen and you can see the archway into the hallway as well as how wide the bookshelves on each side of the fireplace will be.
This pic was taken while standing to one side of the fireplace looking towards the entryway. The arched window is actually in the office.
Here's the master bath and linen closet-the tub will sit under that window...
...and we are pleased that much of the interior walls are insulated with this "QuietZone" to help keep sounds from traveling.
Shane was out back looking for the spotlight for the backyard. The back door was nailed shut so we were talking through the doorknob hole. He pointed out where the spotlight will go, but I don't think he knew I was snapping his pic through that doorknob hole.
Luckily, today he realized that our outdoor grill not only needs a gas line, but also needs some electricity. He met the electrician at the house this afternoon and had him tap into another nearby line to get power where we will need it. I'm sure that would have cost much more if we had not realized it until later on down the road! We both spent some time today talking with the builder about the design for the garage doors as well as the tile budget. I think we have the garage doors figured out, but I might need to start baking some clay tiles out in the yard under the sun...we forgot to leave room in the budget for the kitchen backsplash!
No worries, it will all work out...
