A Reprieve...

Luckily, our builders received word that our house will not be judged until Friday. That gives them another couple of days to finish things up.

We stopped by this morning and the exterior painters had finally arrived.  The new trim & garage color is great. Love it.

I left Shane to check out the inside of the house and I went on to summer camp.  He called a few minutes later to let me know that the iron guys had come back to rip out the iron railing that had already been installed.  I was a bit panicked-it wasn't what we were expecting, but what if they bring in something worse?  I later found out that Dana had them remove it to replace it with what we had originally discussed. Whew.

Also this morning, our landscaper, Bob, worked some of his magic.  This shaded area has some native rocks (I'm sure I won't kill those guys), some plain & veriegated hostas, and a Japanese Maple.

This bed has some mystery shrubs, some tall grass that wiggles in the breeze and the bush in the middle is my Martha Bullock Peony that I've had in a pot for about three years.  I am told that it should thrive now that it's finally in the ground.

In front of the office windows we have some cute scraggly bushes that won't really need trimmed and this adorable twirly evergreen that will need a bit of pruning.

Here's a larger pic of one of the beds.

...and in this pic, you can see the flower beds as well as that the front door has been stained.

Around back, Bob has laid the edging for the flower bed outside the harvest room.  He'll put in that landscaping tomorrow.

...and here's where the vegetable garden will be.  I've already got some baby pepper plants that are about ready to be transplanted.

The yard guys dug all day long-they are still working on the tight-lines.

They have this long drill and were trying to drill under the sidewalk.

In this pic you can see the exterior trim color and the landscaping.  The tree in the front yard is an October Glory Maple-the showstopping kind that turn fiery red & orange in the fall.

I went back at about 8:30 tonight to water the plants and those poor guys were still working.  They are workers and are certainly earning their wages.  They even stopped long enough to turn the sprinklers in the flower beds on (& off) for me so I didn't have to stand and water with the ratty garden hose I had taken over.

Inside the house, someone has decorated the office.

...and the living room...

...and someone else painted the trim around the tub.

Today, we have electricity in our closet.

...and the tile guys installed the upstairs bath accent tile.

...and the entry chandelier was finally hung...

Here's the chandelier when you look up from the floor.

The most exciting news is that some guys worked on the wood floors.  In this pic, the stain is being applied...

And here you can see the floors stained and covered with one coat of polyurethane.  One more coat will go on tomorrow and the final coat will be applied after the Parade.

The remaining "to-do" list...Trash clean up, remove the port-a-potty, install the sod.  Hang the doors that were painted or stained today.  Install the game room tile, rebuild and install the iron stair banister, and install the iron work for the window above the garage.  Finish the master shower and complete the tile work around the hallway lights.  Remove the granite on the kitchen island and install the new piece.  Remove the granite from the wine room and install the onyx. Install the kitchen backsplash. Install the kitchen sink and garbage disposal.  Install the front porch light. Install the cork accent in the wine room.  Install the powder vanity and the vanity counter/sink.  Install carpet upstairs, in master bed, mother-in-law bed and staircase.  Installing the cast stone bands around the window & arch (which I'm sure will mess up the beautiful landscaping).

That might be all, but it still seems like a long list for two days.
