Yesterday the wind was very strong and the framers couldn't get as much done on the roof as they had hoped. However, today the weather was beautiful and there wasn't much wind. It was nice to see how much they've gotten done.
This morning the roof looked like this...
and by this afternoon, it looked like this...
Today's picture of the front of the house...
and the side of the house with the office, kitchen & studio...
And this is a view of the balcony from right below.
I was so excited when we walked through the front door because they have finally started building our staircase. We both wanted a staircase that was also a nice design element and ours is so unique that we've never actually seen one like it; just the architect's sketch. We are really excited to finally see it actually being built. The bottom half will curve around the back of the wine room and then at the half-way point, it turns and heads straight up to the second floor.
Here's Shane on the first step.
This is a view from the upstairs, looking down into the wine room and the staircase is behind it.
Moving into the backyard, here's the back of the house.
A closer view of our super-awesome back porch.
This is the back of the house before the soffit is put in.
And this is the other side of the back of the house where the soffit has already been put in.
Now that the framers are getting so much accomplished, our job is to make some decisions about tile and design.
We are working on it...I mean, life's all about compromises, right?
